Delhi Capitals on Sunday equalled an unwanted record after their narrow 12-run defeat to Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. It was DC's first defeat in IPL 2025 after four wins in a row.
DC were bundled out for 193 in 19 overs while chasing a target of 206 runs against MI. The Axar Patel-led franchise had won their matches in Vizag, Bengaluru, and Chennai, but lost at their home venue in Delhi.
The Capitals were well on course for their fifth win of the season as Karun Nair (89 off 40 balls) and Abishek Porel (33 off 25 balls) formed a 119-run partnership for the second wicket. But after Porel and Nair's dismissals by Karn Sharma and Mitchell Santner, DC suffered a collapse. Karn picked up three wickets for 36 runs.
With this loss in Delhi, the Capitals are now level with Royal Challengers Bengaluru for the most defeats at their home venues.
RCB had achieved the undesired record earlier last week when they lost to DC at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Now, both teams are on level terms.
Kolkata Knight Riders are second on the list with 38 defeats at their home venue, Eden Gardens, while Mumbai Indians are third with 33 defeats at the Wankhede Stadium.
