Shreyas Iyer has had a massive turnaround in his fortunes after suffering the hiuge low in his career wherein he was ousted from the BCCI central contract list last year. Since then, he led KKR to huge win in the IPL 2024, had a solid season for Mumbai in the domestic circuit, and cemented his place in the India ODI team at no.4. In fact, he played a leading role in India's victorious Champions Trophy 2025 campaign, for which he was rewarded by the ICC. He has thus made a pretty unique record.
Shreyas Iyer was conferred the ICC Player of the Month award for March 2025. This is his second ICC Player of the Month award, after winning it in February 2022. He thus won his second award after more than three years, or 1127 days to be exact. This is the longest gap between two ICC Player of the Month awards won by the same player.
Shreyas Iyer becomes the third Indian player after Shubman Gill and Jasprit Bumrah to win the ICC Player of the Month award multiple times. Overall, he is the 7th player with multiple ICC Player of the Month awards after Gill, Babar Azam, Kamindu Mendis, Harry Brook, Shakib Al Hasan, and Bumrah.

"Recognition Is Incredibly Special"

Shreyas Iyer won the ICC Player of the Month Award for Match for his exceptional performance in the Champions Trophy 2025. He scored 243 runs in the tournament at an average of 48.6, including two fifties. He was India's top scorer in the tournament. He edged out New Zealand duo Rachin Ravindra and Jacob Duffy to win the award.
"I'm truly honoured to be named the ICC Men's Player of the Month for March. This recognition is incredibly special, especially in a month when we lifted the ICC Champions Trophy - a moment I'll cherish forever," Shreyas Iyer said after winning the accolade.
"Being able to contribute to India's success on such a big stage is something every cricketer dreams of. I'm grateful to my teammates, coaches, and support staff for their unwavering support and belief," he added.
