Rishabh Pant-led Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will host MS Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 30th match of IPL 2025 at the Ekana Stadium on Monday (April 14). With 4 wins from 6 matches, LSG are at the fourth spot in the points table. CSK have only managed to win 1 out of their six matches and they are reeling at the last spot.
CSK might not be able to leave the last spot even if they defeat LSG. On the other hand, LSG will make big gains and jump to the top spot if they defeat CSK. Here's how LSG can become the top-placed team in the IPL 2025 points table -
Gujarat Titans (GT), who have 4 wins from 6 matches and 8 points, presently acquire the numero uno position. They have an NRR of +1.081. They are followed by Delhi Capitals (DC), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and LSG, respectively.
The only thing which LSG need to do to climb to the top spot is defeat CSK. They will move to the numero uno position irrespective of the margin of win as LSG will become the only team with 10 points.
Of course, they can lose the top spot later but they will start the week on the top. The teams finishing in the top two have an advantage as they get two chances to qualify for the final. They lock horns in the first qualifier to punch their ticket to the final.
The losing team of the first qualifier take on the winning team of the eliminator (played between 3rd and fourth-placed teams) in the second qualifier. The winner of the second qualifier faces the winner of the first qualifier in the final. The IPL 2025 final is scheduled to be played on May 25. The two qualifiers will take place on May 20 and 23.
