While this was Abhishek's first century in the IPL, it was his 7th in T20 cricket, having previously scored two centuries for India in international cricket and four tons for Punjab in the Syed Musthaq Ali Trophy (SMAT). As a result, Abhishek youngest player to hit seven tons in T20 cricket. Shubman Gill 6
Glenn Phillips 5
David Warner 5
Babar Azam 4
Quinton de Kock 4
Will Jacks 4
Tilak Varma 4
Intrestingly, Gill and Abhishek do not feature in the list of top five batters with the most runs before turning 25. This record is held by former Pakistan captain Babar Azam, who made 5431 runs till the age of 24. Ishan Kishan holds the record for the most runs by an Indian before turning 25, with 4755 runs in 178 innings. Gill, who turned 25 in September last year, had 4679 runs with one century each for India and Punjab alongside four for the Gujarat Titans (GT) in the IPL.
Talking about Abhishek, he also set multiple other records during the match, which include setting the record for the highest individual score in a run-chase in IPL history as well as the most runs in an inning by an Indian in T20 cricket.
This was the third instance of the left-handed batter making a century in 40 balls or less, having also hit a 28-ball ton against Meghalaya last year and a 37-ball century against England in Mumbai in February. He is the first player to achieve the feat. Previously, David Miller, Dasun Shanaka, and Urvil Patel have made two such centuries.
Abhishek's tally of seven centuries in T20 cricket is the second most in T20 cricket by an Indian player behind Virat Kohli (9) and Rohit Sharma (8).
