  • Nair made his first IPL half-century in seven years
Tempers flared in the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) clash between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Sunday (April 13) as Karun Nair was involved in a heated chat with Jasprit Bumrah during his heroic comeback.
Bumrah was left fuming at Nair after the end of the sixth over as the batter completed his half-century. Nair collided with Bumrah at the non-striker end as he rushed towards the crease to complete the run and take off for a second. As the players walked towards their respective coaches and teammates during the strategic timeout, Bumrah went towards Karun and gave him an earful.
Hardik Pandya was later seen having a chat with the DC batter, who was seen explaining the situation to the MI captain. However, Indian skipper Rohit appeared least bothered with his hilarious reaction to the controversy going viral on social media.

Karun Nair's Dream Comeback

Karun Nair came on as DC's impact sub and batter at number three after essentially replacing Faf du Plessis in the playing XI, who missed out due to an injury. Playing an IPL match for the first time since 2022, Nair hit his first half-century in the world's richest cricket league in seven years.
Nair was purchased by the Capitals for Rs. 50 Lakhs in the IPL Mega Auction. Just two years after being excluded by Karnataka and being forced to move to Vidarbha, the star batter had a stunning domestic season that included 789 runs in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, which is the third most by any player in a single season. He played a key role in helping his team win the Ranji Trophy.
In the DC-MI match, Nair took down Bumrah like few players have in history. He scored 18 runs in an over, which is the most by any Indian player in history and the third most behind Pat Cummins (26) and Dwayne Bravo (20).
