Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are playing their vital 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) clash against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Sunday (April 13) with a special green jersey instead of their trademark red and black kit.

This is a continuation of RCB's annual 'Go Green' initiative. Since the 2011 season, the Bengaluru-based franchise play one match in the special kit in order to raise awareness of environment sustainability and encourage people to reduce their carbon footprint.

The Virat Kohli-starrer side wear the kit in an afternoon game. This marks the second year in a row of the franchise donning the green kit in an away game after the 2024 campaign in which they wore it at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata against the Kolkata Knight Riders. From 2011 to 2019, RCB only wore the special jersey in a home match at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. In 2020, 2021, and 2022; the IPL took place in a bio-bubble, and they had to wear it a neutral venue with the home-away system abolished.

While no official explanation has been given behind RCB's decision to wear the kit in an away game, RCB have no afternoon match at home this season which could be the reason behind them opting to take the special initiative to Jaipur. The only other 3:30 PM start RCB has this season is an away fixture on April 20 against Punjab Kings (PBKS) at Mullanpur.

The kit has not been lucky with RCB, as their record is far from ideal. Overall, the Bengaluru-based franchise have woren a green kit in 13 matches in IPL history but have only four wins and nine defeats.

Talking about today's match, RCB won the toss and chose to bowl first. So far this season, the Rajat Patidar-led side are unbeaten away from home.
