Delhi Capitals (DC) have been forced into a major change into their playing XI for the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) clash against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Sunday (April 13) as vice-captain Faf du Plessis is not part of the playing XI.

Axar Patel confirmed at the toss that the 40-year-old has missed out due to an injury. However, the DC skipper did not confirm who the replacement would be and claimed that they would play the same XI that featured in the last match and take a call on the impact player later.

This is the second time this season that Faf is missing a game due to an injury after not playing in the 25-run victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Chepuak last year. KL Rahul opened the batting in Faf's absence and a similar move is expected today.

Faf, who was signed by DC for Rs. 2 crore in the 2025 mega auction, has made 81 runs in three innings so far. Ahead of DC's season opener, the ex-Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain was announced as Axar's deputy, who replaced Rishabh Pant as the franchise's captain.

DC have made a flawless start to the seasoin with four victories in a row and are the only remaining unbeaten team in the tournament sofar.
