Yuvraj Singh, India's World T20 and World Cup-winning hero, heaped praise on Abhishek Sharma for his magnificent 141 off 55 balls for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2025 game against Punjab Kings at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

Abhishek, who trained under the guidance of Yuvraj Singh during the Covid-19 lockdown, hit his maiden IPL hundred off just 40 balls to help SRH chase down 245 with eight wickets in hand and nine balls to spare.

The 24-year-old surpassed KL Rahul, who had scored 132 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2020, to register the highest individual score by an Indian in IPL history. Abhishek’s blistering knock was studded with 10 sixes and 14 boundaries.

After completing his hundred, the left-handed batter celebrated the landmark moment with a poignant gesture, pulling out a handwritten note from his pocket that read: "This one is for Orange Army." The "Orange Army" refers to SRH’s passionate fan base.

Delighted with Abhishek’s innings, Yuvraj Singh lavished praise on his protege for showing maturity in completing his hundred, while also commending Travis Head and Shreyas Iyer.

Courtesy of Abhishek’s century and his 171-run partnership with Travis Head (66 off 37 balls), SRH successfully chased the massive total, registering the second-highest successful chase in IPL history.

After the openers’ dismissals, Heinrich Klaasen and Ishan Kishan guided SRH home in 18.3 overs.

At the post-match ceremony, Abhishek expressed his gratitude to Yuvraj for helping him fine-tune his technique.

“Special mention to Yuvi paaji — I’ve been talking to him. Also, thanks to Suryakumar Yadav as well. I’ve been in touch with him, and he has been there for me,” Abhishek said.
