Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan has often been subjected to brutal trolling for his spoken English. Ever since Rizwan took charge of the Pakistan cricket team, multiple videos of him during team meetings and post-match presentations went viral, with trolls mocking him for his language.
Rizwan, who recently returned from New Zealand after a 3-0 ODI series defeat to the Kiwis, will lead the Multan Sultans in PSL 2025. The Pakistan captain addressed the trolling over his language and made an honest admission. Rizwan said he did not get enough education which is why he can't speak proper education, but he is not at all ashamed of it at all.
“I don’t care [about social media trolling]. I am proud of one thing and that is whatever I say, I say from my heart. I don’t know English.”
“The only regret is that I did not get enough education but I am not even one per cent ashamed that I can’t speak English despite being the captain of the Pakistan cricket team,” Rizwan said in a press conference.
Rizwan further said that his job is to play cricket, and speaking in fluent English is the least he is concerned about.
“The demand from me is cricket, not English. There is a regret that I did not complete my education, which is why I struggle in speaking English.”
“Pakistan is not demanding English from me if that is the case, I will leave cricket to become a professor but I do not have that much time,” he added.
Meanwhile, according to reports, Rizwan was upset at PCB for leaving him and Babar Azam out of the T20I squad for the New Zealand series. The Pakistan captain is set to meet Mohsin Naqvi to discuss about his future in T20Is. Reportedly, Rizwan wants more authority in team selections and if the PCB does not agree, he may step down as Pakistan captain.
