Rohit Sharma and his daughter Samaira play pickleball with Tilak Varma ahead of Mumbai Indians' IPL 2025 clash against Lucknow Super Giants.
Pickleball fever continues to sweep the world. Due to its easy accessibility and minimal training requirements, pickleball has gained popularity among people from all walks of life. They are intrigued by the racket sport. India captain Rohit Sharma is the latest sportsperson to enjoy the game.
With his franchise, Mumbai Indians, on a three-day break after their eight-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Rohit was seen enjoying pickleball with his daughter, Samaira, and MI batter, Tilak Varma. Mumbai Indians will face Lucknow Super Giants in an away game on Friday.
Before the match, Rohit was seen trying different pickleball strokes, displaying his quick reflexes. Samaira was elated by her father's attempt to play pickleball, while Tilak joined them for company.
By playing pickleball, Rohit—who recently led India to an ICC Champions Trophy-winning performance in Dubai—became the latest sportsperson to endorse the racket sport, which has gained tremendous traction in India.
Due to the health benefits associated with pickleball, the sport has become the go-to option for corporates. It has even replaced golf in some places. In India, pickleball has experienced rapid growth, with over 50,000 active players and thousands of courts. It has also attracted investment and sponsorships from celebrities.
Rohit, who has been going through a lean patch, will look to regain his form when Mumbai Indians face Lucknow Super Giants in an away game on Friday. He has managed to amass only 21 runs across three matches. After being dismissed for a duck against Chennai Super Kings, he fell for eight against Gujarat Titans. Against KKR, he could score only 13.
In recent times, his only moment of heroics came in the ICC Champions Trophy final against New Zealand when he scored a crucial 76 while opening the innings for India. However, his form has been patchy since the start of the 2024-25 season. Rohit will look to regain his mojo in the ongoing season of the IPL.
Tilak, meanwhile, scored 70 from three matches with a highest score of 39.
