India are currently taking on England in the 4th T20I of the five-match series at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. The Men in Blue started the series off to a flyer with two wins in the first two games in Kolkata and Chennai respectively. They, however, lost the third T20I in Rajkot, as the visitors paved their way back into the series. India now need to win this match to seal the series with a match to play. Mohammed Shami, who made his return to Team India for the first time since the ODI World Cup 2023 in the Rajkot T20I, is not playing this match.

Why Mohammed Shami Is Not Playing 4th T20I vs England?

Mohammed Shami returned to the playing XI for the third T20I but could not perform well. he bowled three overs giving away 25 runs without taking any wicket. Hence, he might have been dropped, with Arshdeep Singh back in the squad, who is the more in-form bowler among the two.
India have opted for a specific tactic in T20Is at home, wherein they go for a spin-heavy attack, with just one specialized player in the lineup. Hardik Pandya serves as the second pacer. Hence Arshdeep Singh coming into the squad means that Mohammed Shami has to miss out.
