Saqib Mahmood left the Indian top order in shambles during the 4th T20I between England and India at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium in Pune on Friday (January 31) after being introduced into the playing XI for the first time in the series in place of Mark Wood.
Mahmood was brought into the attack in the second over of the innings by Jos Buttler and took the wicket of Sanju Samson (1) with his first delivery of the spell as the Indian wicket-keeper batter fell prey to the short ball ploy. Mahmood got another wicket on his second ball as in-form Tilak Verma departed for a golden duck. Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav was also dismissed for a duck on the last ball of the over as his nightmare run of form continued.

Saqib Mahmood Creates History

Mahmood's first over on the tour proved to be a rare triple-wicket maiden, which left India reeling. The 27-year-old etched his name in the history books as he became the first player in the world to achieve the feat against India in a men's T20I. The right-arm pacer is also the first English bowler in history to achieve the feat against any team in the shortest format of the game.
Mahmood is also the joint-quickest (overs) to bowl a triple-wicket maiden in a T20I alongside ex-West Indies pacer Jerome Taylor, who achieved the feat against South Africa in the second over at Gqeberha in 2007
Despite Mahmood's stunning over, India made a strong comeback with Abhishek Sharma (29 of 19) and Rinku Singh (30 of 26) mounting a recovery. Later, Shivam Dube took the attack to Adil Rashid and ensured India were not left on the backfoot in the middle overs. Dube put up an 87-run partnership with Hardik Pandya as he made 53 runs in 34 balls. Hardik made 53 runs in just 33 balls as Inida posted 181 on the board. Mahmood finished his spell with figures of 3-35 as India posted a total of 181.
