The 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) clash between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday (April 14) saw a bizarre event as Abhishel Porel got a big edge to a delivery from Jofra Archer but there was no appeal from the bowler, captain, or any fielder in the team.
The incident happened on the last ball of the 13th over from Jofra Archer. The DC batter was left bamboozled by a short ball from the tearaway England quick, and the ball landed in Samson's hands. While everything appeared normal as the teams switched ends after the end of the over, it was the replays that left fans stunned.
It emerged that Porel had got a big edge on the delivery, which Archer, Samson, and all fielders on the ground completely missed.
The bizarre sequence left many perplexed as it was not a faint nick, which can be missed but the ball hit the bottom of the bat instead of an edge. Many questioned if it was a tactical call by RR, including ex-Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh.
However, Porel failed to make the most of the incident as he was dismissed on the next ball he faced from Wanindu Hasaranga in the 14th over. Porel made 49 runs in 37 balls as the Capitals posted a total of 188 on the board. However, the 22-year-old's knock was one of two phases as he started by making 24 runs in seven balls, which included four boundaries and one six in the second over of the match by Tushar Deshpande. However, he managed to make just 25 runs in the next ball 30 balls he played.
Talking about the match, the match went into a super over where the Capitals registered a victory to climb to top spot on the table with five wins in six games.
