Shaik Rasheed, a 20-year-old batter from Andhra Pradesh, is making his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut for Chennai Super Kings. He has replaced New Zealand opener Devon Conway in the squad. CSK is struggling with its batting lineup throughout the tournament, so they decided to make some changes against the Lucknow Super Giants. Ruturaj Gaikwad is also out of the IPL 2025 due to a fracture in his eblow, MS Dhoni has been appointed as captain in the absence of Gaikwad.

Shaik Rasheed was a part of the Indain Under-19 World Cup 2022 winning squad. His contributions on the side were prominent as he scored a brilliant 94 runs against Australia in the semi-final and also made a fifty in the final against England U-19. His performance in the tournament led to his debut in the domestic circuit for Andhra Pradesh in all formats. He has played 19 first-class games for Andhra, in which he has scored 1204 runs at 37.42. With a knock of 203 against Hyderabad, Rasheed has scored 627 runs in 12 outings during the Ranji Trophy 2024-25. He has played 13 T20 games in which he has 352 runs with an unbeaten 100 runs.

Shaik Rasheed joined CSK in 2023 for the base price of INR 20 lakh but didn't get the chance to feature in the squad which lifted the trophy. CSK retained the youngster in 2024, but he warmed the bench again. In 2025, CSK signed him for INR 30 lakh, and now, after six games, he is now making his debut in the league under Mahendra Singh Dhoni's leadership.

CSK has made two big changes in the game against Lucknow Super Giants, apart from Shaik Rasheed, Jamie Overton is coming in the place of Ravichandran Ashwin. CSK has lost five consecutive games in the IPL 2025 after securing a win in the tournament opener.
