The Champions Trophy 2025 is up and running, as the tournament is slowly and steadily reaching its business end. The first semi-finalists have been confirmed after New Zealand defeated Bangladesh on February 24 (Monday). The Kiwis sealed their place in the final four alongside India, as both teams now have two wins and four points on the board. This means that Pakistan and Bangladesh have been officially knocked out of the tournament just five days into the start of the tournament.

Pakistan, who are the official hosts of the Champions Trophy 2025, have been embarrassingly knocked out after losing their first two matches against New Zealand and India. They now become the second team in history to be knocked out of the Champions Trophy as host nations. South Africa were the last team to have done so, having finished bottom of their group in the 2009 edition of the tournament.
Pakistan also have become the fourth team in history to enter the Champions Trophy as defending champions and be knocked out of the tournament from the group stages. India and Sri Lanka were the joint-winners of the 2002 Champions Trophy, and were knocked out of the 2004 edition from the group stages. Te 2009 champions Australia were knocked out of the 2013 edition in the group stages after they failed to win a single match.

Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first vs India in the Champions Trophy 2025 match on February 23 (Sunday). The PAK batters never looked in good touch as India bundled them out for 241 runs. Saud Shakeel scored a hal-century, while Kuldeep Yadav starred with the ball picking up 3 wickets.
India easily chased down the target with more than 6 overs to spare, and 6 wickets remaining. VIrat Kohli was the star of the show as he slammed his 51st ODI century. Shreyas Iyer also lent able support with a well-made half-century.
