Varun Chakravarthy has been in terrific form for India off late in T20Is. In the ongoing T20I series against England,, the star spinner has absolutely rattled the English batters. In the third T20I , he became the first bowler ever to take 10 wickets in an India vs Englan bilateral series. He has not been named in the squad for the Champions Trophy even though there were rumours of his doing so. There is still a chance of him making the cut.
How Varun Chakravarthy Can Still Make It To Champions Trophy 2025 Squad
India have already announced their squad for the Champions Trophy 2025. In the squad they have four spinners namely Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav and Ravi Bishnoi. However, the squad that they have announced is only a provisional one. According to the ICC guidelines, teams have till February 11 to submit their final squad for the Champions Trophy 2025.
Hence, India have till that date to make any changes to their squad should they want to. The in-form Varun Chakravarthy thus still has a chance to make it to the India squad for the mega ICC tournament.
On the other hand, Varun Chakravarthy can also make it to the squad should any one of the 15 players selected get injured before the start or in the middle of the Champions Trophy 2025. Then, India will get the chance to replace him with the star spinner.
Axar Patel was initially named in the 2023 ODI World Cup provisional squad. However, he got injured before the start of the tournament, as Ravichandran Ashwin replaced him in the final squad.
