Hardik Pandya made his return to international cricket along with other T20I regulars in the first game of the five-match series against England. Hardik, who has been a regular in white-ball cricket since his debut in 2016, went past Jasprit Bumrah in an elite list during the series opener.
The star India all-rounder now has more T20I wickets than Bumrah. Before the start of the first T20I, Pandya and Bumrah had equal wickets (89). Pandya now has 91 wickets and he has an opportunity to become the first Indian bowler to scalp 100 wickets in the shortest format.
With 97 scalps, Arshdeep Singh tops the list of Indian bowlers with the most T20I wickets. He is followed by Yuzvendra Chahal, who has 96 scalps. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has 90 scalps and he sits at the fourth spot.
Hardik Pandya's career
A complete package on the field, Hardik made his T20I debut against Australia in January 2016. He quickly cemented his spot and was part of the MS Dhoni-led team for the 2016 World Cup. He joined the leadership in 2022 and was first appointed the vice-captain for the home T20I series against South Africa.
Hardik made his T20I captaincy debut against Ireland in June 2022. He became the full-time vice-captain of the white-ball teams and assisted Rohit Sharna in the 2023 ODI World Cup.
Hardik was Rohit's deputy in the 2024 T20 World Cup as well. However, he was dropped from the leadership group after the ICC event and Suryakumar Yadav became the new T20I captain. Shubman Gill was appointed the vice-captain of the white-ball teams.
Hardik has 1700 runs and 91 wickets in 110 T20Is. He has scored 1769 runs and scalped 84 wickets in 86 ODIs. Hardik also played 11 Tests. He has been out of the Test team since 2021. Hardik hasn't played a first-class game since December 2018.
