Rohit Sharma's heartfelt gestures towards Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar and former head coach Ravi Shastri earned praise from fans during the 50th-anniversary celebrations of the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, which saw the greats of Indian cricket assemble at the iconic venue, which has seen some of the greatest moments in the sport's history.
Sharma was called on stage alongside Sachin Tendulkar, Gavaskar, Shastri, and Ajinkya Rahane. The quartet of Mumbai cricket greats, who had also captained the Indian team during their celebrated careers, assembled for a chat with hosts Mandira Bedi and Jatin Sapru.
As each of them came to the stage one by one, Shastri took a corner seat. Rohit was quick to notice this and urged him to come sit in the centre alongside Gavaskar, who was sitting beside Tendulkar. As part of the trophy tour, the 2025 Champions Trophy was also present on stage during the discussion. After their fun chat ended, the five Indian cricket stalwarts took a group picture. Both Gavaskar and Shastri were spotted urging Rohit to come in the middle and near the trophy, but the Indian captain refused to do so.
