India's batting legend Sachin Tendulkar, his wife Anjali and daughter Sara were on Saturday, January 18 seen enjoying the Coldplay concert in Mumbai, even as 'Sachin, Sachin' chants stole the spotlight for a moment on the big day. The event was being held at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, a venue that the legendary Indian cricketer might have frequented during his playing days.
While the British band thrilled fans with their chart-topping hits, chants of 'Sachin, Sachin' went through the stadium, overpowering the music for a moment.
Standing on a balcony, Tendulkar acknowledged the fans' overwhelming love by raising his hand and waving towards them, a gesture that sent the crowd into a frenzy. Watch the video here:
There were plenty of unforgettable moments that resonated with the crowd at Navi Mumbai's DY Patil Stadium where Coldplay began their 'Music of the Spheres World Tour’ in India.
For two hours at the packed stadium, lead singer Chris Martin belted out chartbuster tracks like "Paradise", "Viva La Vida", "Adventure of a Lifetime", "Yellow", "Fix You" and "A Sky Full of Stars", among others.
Towards the end of the concert, Martin stopped crooning and teased the crowd by saying that he needed to wrap it soon since it was time for ace India pacer Jasprit Bumrah to play cricket at the stadium.
“We got to finish the show because Jasprit Bumrah wants to come and play cricket backstage. Thank you very much, everybody, good night. He says he needs to ball at me," Martin said.
“We love you Jasprit. So, we are going to ask him to wait for 15 minutes. So, we would like to play the song one more time, this time with four of us and the 60,000 of you all in the same breath," Martin added.
