India have announced the squad for the Champions Trophy 2025, in a press conference attended by ROhit Sharma and chief sector Ajit Agarkar. There have not been many major surprises in the squad, with most of the expected faces featuring. Rohit will continue to lead the side with Shubman Gill as his vice-captain. Yashasvi Jaiswal has been rewarded for his Test and T20I exploits as he has been picked for the ODI side, while Mohammed Shami marks his return to the ODI side after more than a year.

No Yashasvi Jaiswal; KL Rahul Picked Over Rishabh Pant

With Shubman Gill being the vice-captain, it is a certainty that he will feature in the playing XI for India in the Champions Trophy 2025. This means that he will open with Rohit Sharma in all likelihood, with Jaiswal staying as the backup option. Virat Kohli will continue to bat at no.3, with Shreyas Iyer a certainty at no.4
KL Rahul, like the ODI World Cup 2023, is likely to continue as the first-choice wicketkeeper, which means that Rishabh Pant will sit out. Hardik Pandya will come in at no.6, and will be the third pace bowling option for India as well.

No Ravindra Jadeja, Bumrah-Shami Pace Duo Returns

Axar Patel and Washington Sundar are likely to be the two spin-bowling all-rounder options for India at no.7 and 8. The two will also provide some variety to the attack with left-arm spin and off-spin combination. Kuldeep Yadav will lead the spin attack, as he returns from a groin issue.
India will go in with a formidable pace bowling duo of Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah. The duo wreaked havoc in the ODI World Cup 2023. However, Bumrah's fitness is still a concern, as expressed by Ajit Agarkar while announcing the squad.
