India captain Rohit Sharma and chief selector Ajit Agarkar announced the India squad for the ICC Champions Trophy. There were doubts about the availability of ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah who picked up a back injury during the fifth Test vs Australia. Speculations were rife that Bumrah could be left out of the India squad, however, when the squad was announced, Bumrah's name was included.

Bumrah was added to the India squad for the ICC Champions Trophy, however, his selection will be subjected to his fitness. If Bumrah fails to attain peak fitness, he won't play. He is likely to miss the initial matches of the ICC Champions Trophy. For the ODI series vs England, Harshit Rana has been roped in place of Jasprit Bumrah. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar said that the team is waiting for a fitness update on Jasprit Bumrah and they will get to know the status by the BCCI medical team in early February.

"We are waiting on Jasprit Bumrah's fitness and will know his status in early February from BCCI's medical team."

Speaking about the India squad, Mohammed Siraj was left out due to inconsistent performances. Mohammed Shami, however, made a comeback along with Kuldeep Yadav. Ravindra Jadeja too was able to make a cut to the squad. Karun Nair lit up the Vijay Hazare Trophy, however, he was ignored, and so was Sanju Samson. On Nair's omission, Rohit said it was a tough call to ignore a batter in top form. India will begin their ICC Champions Trophy campaign against Bangladesh on Feb 20 at the Dubai International Stadium.
