Bangladesh stunned Pakistan with a dominant performance to reach the final of the U19 Asia Cup, where they will face India. The final is set for 8 December at the same venue, after India defeated Sri Lanka in the second semi-final.
Batting first, Pakistan U19 were bowled out for a mere 116 runs, setting a very low target for Bangladesh. In response, Bangladesh chased down the total easily in just 22.1 overs, losing three wickets along the way.
Bangladesh's captain, Azizul Hakim, played an excellent innings, remaining not out on 61 from 42 balls. His knock included seven boundaries and three sixes. Mohammad Shihab James also contributed with a solid 26 runs from 36 balls. For Pakistan, Ali Raza, Abdul Subhan, and Naveed Ahmed Khan each took one wicket.
Earlier, Bangladesh made the right decision by choosing to field first. Maruf Mridha was instrumental with the ball, removing Pakistan's opening batsmen quickly and leaving them struggling at 7-2. Muhammad Riazullah and captain Saad Baig tried to rebuild, adding 42 runs for the third wicket, but their efforts were undone when Iqbal Hossain Emon dismissed Baig.
Riazullah, who scored 28 runs from 65 balls, also fell to Emon. Farhan Yousaf top-scored for Pakistan with a quickfire 32 from 32 balls, including one boundary and three sixes. However, no other Pakistani batter could make a significant contribution as Pakistan were bowled out for 116 in 37 overs.
Iqbal Hossain Emon was the star with the ball for Bangladesh, taking 4 wickets for 24 runs. Maruf Mridha also impressed with two key wickets. Al Fahad and Debasish Deba picked up one wicket each.
With this win, Bangladesh will now face India in the U19 Asia Cup final, where they will hope to continue their strong performance.
