Sachin Tendulkar (right) heaps praise on Vaibhav Suryavanshi for his 101 off 38 balls.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi's 35-ball hundred - the fastest by an Indian in the Indian Premier League (IPL) - at the age of 14 left the cricketing world murmuring about his batting calibre.
The Rajasthan Royals batter shared a 166-run partnership with Yashasvi Jaiswal (70 off 40 balls) that helped the franchise chase down a 210-run target against Gujarat Titans with 25 balls to spare and eight wickets in hand.
Batting with sheer energy and power, Suryavanshi hit 11 sixes and seven fours as he clobbered Mohammed Siraj, Ishant Sharma, and Washington Sundar all around the park.
His ability to hit clean strokes earned him praise from all quarters. Some even drew comparisons with Sachin Tendulkar, who hogged the limelight with his powerful batting in the 1980s as a teen prodigy.
On Monday, Suryavanshi got off the mark by smashing Mohammed Siraj for a 90-metre six on the second ball before hitting three sixes and two boundaries off Ishant Sharma, a veteran of 105 Tests, in the fourth over.
Tendulkar, the legendary batter, was awestruck with Suryavanshi's relentless hitting. Keeping a close eye on the southpaw, the Little Master decoded the recipe of Suryavanshi's powerful batting.
"Vaibhav’s fearless approach, bat speed, picking the length early, and transferring the energy behind the ball was the recipe behind a fabulous innings. End result: 101 runs off 38 balls," Tendulkar wrote on X.
Suryavanshi, who hails from Samastipur in Bihar, grew up watching videos of Brian Lara. And his batting style does have a shade of Lara, while others also see a sight of Yuvraj Singh, such was his ability to hit sixes over the leg boundary with powerful and wristy flicks.
Last November, he came into the spotlight when, at 13, he hit a century against the Australia Under-19 team off 58 balls. After hitting a six off Shardul Thakur on the first delivery he faced in the IPL against Lucknow Super Giants, Suryavanshi now holds the record for the youngest batter to hit a hundred in the IPL.
