Michael Chandler has broken his silence after suffering a third-round TKO defeat to Paddy Pimblett at UFC 314, sharing an emotional message with his fans on social media.

The former Bellator champion, who was brutally beaten by Pimblett in Miami, took to social media to offer insight into his recovery and state of mind. The fight, which ended after Chandler suffered a severe cut from a knee strike, marked his third consecutive loss inside the UFC.

Chandler, who last won in 2022 with a knockout over Tony Ferguson, appeared visibly battered but maintained a positive outlook as he returned home to Nashville.

Never out of the fight. This picture sums it all up. As long as I’ve got these heartbeats and hands to hold, I’ve already won. pic.twitter.com/q7F1gB4KhD

Chandler’s post on X featured a poignant photo of him holding hands with his son, Hap, along with the caption: “Never out of the fight. This picture sums it all up. As long as I’ve got these heartbeats and hands to hold, I’ve already won.”

His wife, Brie, had earlier shared photos showing Chandler sporting sunglasses to hide his cut while still managing a smile. These images were reposted by Chandler, highlighting his resilient spirit despite the physical toll.

The loss to Pimblett has sparked debates about Chandler’s future in the sport, with UFC legends Michael Bisping and Henry Cejudo suggesting that the 38-year-old consider retirement.

Bisping, in particular, argued that Chandler’s age and a string of losses may have ended his chances at a title run, while Cejudo offered support for one final fight before hanging up the gloves.

Despite the setbacks, Chandler remains a fan favourite known for his explosive fighting style. However, the accumulation of defeats and injuries has raised concerns about his ability to continue competing at the highest level.
