Oklahoma fans had plenty to say to Kentucky’s Otega Oweh on Wednesday night. But when it mattered most, the former Sooner guard delivered the final word.
Oweh scored a career-high 28 points and banked in a tough, off-balance floater with six seconds left to lift No. 17 Kentucky to an 83-82 victory over Oklahoma.
"I just tried to impose my will, whatever way that was," Oweh said after the game.
A key contributor for Oklahoma last season, averaging 11.4 points per game, Oweh transferred to Kentucky, where he has emerged as a top scorer. He entered the game averaging a team-best 15.7 points per game, but his return to Norman was anything but warm.

From the opening introductions, Oklahoma fans let him hear it, booing loudly and chanting, "He's a traitor," when he stepped to the free-throw line. Instead of folding under the pressure, Oweh thrived on it.
He took over down the stretch, scoring Kentucky’s final 18 points and sealing the victory with his clutch last-second shot. Even after the game, boos rained down as he walked across the court for his postgame interview.
"I mean, it's a great feeling coming to your old space, getting a win," Oweh said. "As a basketball player, it's just cool to go in there, to have that."
Oklahoma coach Porter Moser admitted his team had no answer for their former star, especially in the second half, where Oweh poured in 23 points on 10-for-14 shooting.
"You've got to tip your hats off," Moser said. "I thought Kentucky, and then I thought Otega, made some just absolute huge plays down the stretch."

Jalon Moore led Oklahoma with 20 points and said there were no lingering grudges.
"It was cool playing with Otega," Moore said. "It's my brother. I wish him nothing but success. It’s good just coming in there to compete, and that’s it."
For Kentucky, the win marked just its third road victory of the season, but head coach Mark Pope said it was the kind of battle his team needed as March approaches.
"I do think our guys captured or had an experience tonight that they will call back on when we get in this, in a very similar game," Pope said. "And so I love that. I love that we have it in our pocket."
