Pakistan and Bangladesh were supposed to take on each other in the penultimate encounter of Group A in the Champions Trophy 2025. This match would have been a dead rubber as both sides were knocked out of the tournament before the start of the game, having lost both of their opening two encounters against New Zealand and India. This match could not go through in Rawalpindi as the incessant rain completely washed out the match without a ball being bowled. Thus, the home side Pakistan went out of the tournament without playing their final game. They have now also achieved an embarrassing record.
Pakistan finished the tournament with 1 point on the board with a Net Run Rate of -1.087. They thus finished bottom of the table without a single win to their name. Since the group stages were introduced in the 2002 edition, Pakistan have become the first host nation to finish bottom of the table without a single win on the board.

Pakistan Enter Multiple Embarrassing Lists

Overall, Pakistan become the second host team in the history of the Champions Trophy after Kenya in 2000, to be knocked out of the Champions Trophy without a single win on the board. They also become the second team after South Africa in 2009 to finish bottom of the group.
Pakistan became the second team after Australia who finished winless in the Champions Trophy as defending champions. In the 2013 Champions Trophy, 2009 champions Australia finished with one point on the board from three matches. While one match was washed out, they lost the other two.
Pakistan began their Champions Trophy 2025 encounter with a heavy 60-run loss to New Zealand in Multan. This was followed by a blockbuster clash against India in Dubai, which they lost once again, by a margin of 6 wickets. The final nail in the coffin of Pakistan's campaign was hammered by New Zealand when they confirmed the Men in Green's exit with their win against Bangladesh.
