KL Rahul is among one of the most prominent cricketers in India's ODI and Test teams. He has captained Team India in all three formats. There has been no looking back for Rahul since his debut in 2014. Rahul has often been dropped from the playing XI but he has always bounced back strongly.
Rahul made his India debut in the 2014/15 Border-Gavaskar Trophy under MS Dhoni's captaincy. He has played under different captains over the years. Rahul has himself led Team India in all three formats.
Rahul, who isn't part of the leadership group now, was recently asked to pick the player with the smartest cricketing brain. Speaking to ESPNcricinfo, Rahul ignored Virat Kohli and picked Rohit Sharma.
Rohit is the present Test and ODI captain of Team India. Under him, India reached the final of the 2023 ODI World Cup and lifted the 2024 T20 World Cup trophy.
Rohit joined India's leadership group in 2017 and replaced Virat Kohli as the white-ball captain in 2021. He became India's all-format captain in 2022. Rohit has enjoyed success as the national captain and he recently completed 100 wins.
KL Rahul's performance in Champions Trophy
KL Rahul is part of India's 2025 Champions Trophy team. He played a key role in India's win over Bangladesh in their first game. The right-handed batsman remained unbeaten on 41 off 47 balls.
He joined Shubman Gill when the Men in Blue were 4 down for 144. Rahul and Shubman added 87 runs for the fifth wicket to take India to a comfortable win.
Rahul didn't get a chance to bat against Pakistan. He is ahead of Rishabh Pant in the pecking order. Rishabh has only played one ODI since his return. Though he remains India's first-choice wicketkeeper-batsman in Tests and T20Is. Rahul hasn't played a T20I since 2022 World Cup.
