Virat Kohli continued his purple patch against Pakistan and slammed another century against the Men in Green during the league stage match of the 2025 Champions Trophy. Courtesy of his ton, India chased down the target of 242 with ease. India did lose an early wicket of Rohit Sharma in the chase but they were never out of contention.
Virat needed 4 runs to complete his century when India were just 2 runs away from the win. The former India captain slammed a boundary to reach the milestone.
Virat Kohli created history with his match-winning century and achieved a huge milestone. Virat is now the only batsman in Indian cricket's history to slam a ton against Pakistan in the ICC Champions Trophy.
The arch-rivals have squared off six times in the Champions Trophy. On Sunday (February 23), it was the first occasion when an Indian batter breached the three-figure mark against the Men in Green.
Apart from Virat, Shubman Gill also played a vital role with the bat and scored 46 off 52 balls. Shreyas Iyer scored a brilliant 56 off 67 balls to take India closer to a win.
Kuldeep Yadav did the job with the ball and scalped 3 wickets. Hardik Pandya dismissed 2 Pakistan batters. He got the first breakthrough for India by scalping the key wicket of Babar Azam. Harshit Rana, Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja scalped a wicket each.
India moved to the top spot in the points table following the win. They are on the cusp of qualifying for the semi-final. India can qualify for the second round even if they lose their last league stage game against New Zealand.
Interestingly, both NZ and India will qualify for the second round on Monday (February 24) should the Black Caps defeat Bangladesh. Both India and NZ are one-time CT Champions.
