India continued their purple patch in the 2025 Champions Trophy and registered their second win on the trot on Sunday (February 23). The Men in Blue registered a comfortable win over Pakistan to move to the top spot in the points table. Pakistan have lost both their matches and they are on the cusp of an early elimination.
Pakistan are all but out of the tournament and they need a miracle to make it to the second round. India have all but qualified for the semi-final while New Zealand will punch their ticket to the second round if they defeat Bangladesh on Monday (February 24).
NZ's win will also benefit India and they will make it to the second round without even playing their last league stage game against the Black Caps. Here, we have a look at how India can qualify for the semi-final even before facing NZ on March 2 -
India have 4 points in their account while NZ have 2 points. They are followed by Bangladesh and Pakistan - both teams are winless. A team is scheduled to play three matches in the league stage. If NZ defeat Bangladesh, they will also have 4 points.
It will see India and NZ making it to the second round early as neither Bangladesh nor Pakistan can fetch 4 points. The India-New Zealand game will be a dead rubber but both teams would aim to finish at the top spot.
It's already confirmed that India will play the first semi-final of the tournament on March 4 in Dubai. NZ, if they win against Bangladesh, will have to travel back to Pakistan after the India game. The second semi-final will be played on March 5.
The final will be played in Dubai if India win the semi-final. Pakistan will host the summit clash if the opposite happens.
