Star Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) all-rounder Ellyse Perry created history during her team's vital Women's Premier League (2025) clash against UP Warriorz at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Monday (February 24).
Aiming to return to winning ways after their first defeat of the season against Mumbai Indians (MI), the defending champions were hit an early blow as skipper Smriti Mandhana was dismissed by her counterpart Deepti Sharma in the fourth over of the match after making just six runs in nine balls.
However, Perry continued her golden run of form by making a half-century and posting a 100-run partnership with Danielle Wyatt, who also crossed the 50-run mark for the first time in her WPL career.
Ellyse Perry Creates History
Through the course of the innings, Perry went past Meg Lanning and became the league's all-time highest run-getter. She also crossed the 800-run mark and became the first player in WPL's history to achieve the milestone.

Perry also hit a half-century, which is the 7th instance of her reaching the milestone in the league's history. This means that she has equalled Lanning's record, who also has the same number of 50+ scores in the tournament.
Perry won the orange cap in RCB's title-winning season in 2024 with 347 runs in nine innings at an average of 69.40. She is also leading the run-scorers list in the 2025 edition so far and has completed 200 runs. In the inaugural season in 2023, she made 253 runs in eight innings.
Ahead of the game, RCB were given a major boost as it was announced that Perry is available to bowl after playing as a specialist batter in the first three games of the season. Last season, she also set the record for the best bowling figures in the league's history with a spell of 6/15 against the Mumbai Indians
Talking about the match, Perrry made an unbeaten knock of 90 in 57 balls to help RCB post a total of 180 on the board. This is the joint-third highest indiviual score in the tournament history.
