Explained! Why Pakistan Will Support Bangladesh In Champions Trophy Match vs New Zealand? (Source: PTI)

New Zealand will be up against Bangladesh in a crucial game of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 at the Rawalpindi International Stadium. New Zealand come into the match after a crushing 60-run win over Pakistan in the first game. Bangladesh, on the other hand, were hammered by India in their first game.
This is a very important game for all four teams in the group. India defeated Pakistan in their previous game to take their tally of wins to two, thus almost securing a berth in the Champions Trophy semifinal. New Zealand are also well-placed after a win over Pakistan.
A win today will confirm India and New Zealand's berth in the semifinals. The Pakistan fans will be hoping that Bangladesh pull off an upset against New Zealand.
This is because a defeat for New Zealand against Bangladesh and India will keep them at two points. If Pakistan beat Bangladesh in their last league game, they'd also reach two points along with Bangladesh. All three teams will be tied on points and the team with the best run rate will qualify along with India.
Pakistan have a net run rate of -1.087 so a close defeat for New Zealand won't work well for Pakistan. They need New Zealand to lose badly and then beat Bangladesh by a handsome margin to give themselves some chance of reaching the semifinal, however, a qualification like this won't make Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan proud.
"As a captain, I honestly don't like this. If you can win, then do it. If you can't, then don't worry about it. I don't care if you are sitting in someone else's shadow.
"I don't care if you are outside the tournament or in it. Yes, New Zealand has defeated us; India has defeated us. We accept it. We can play well; we can play badly. We can't say that we should stay on someone else's side. Allah has made this a chance, we can't say anything about it."
