Pakistan suffered their second consecutive defeat in the ICC Champions Trophy as they went down to India by six wickets at the Dubai International Stadium. This was Pakistan's second loss in two games. The Men in Green suffered a 60 run defeat to New Zealand in the first game. Chasing a target of 242, Virat Kohli scored a hundred and gave India their second win of the Champions Trophy 2025.
The defeat to India has almost knocked Pakistan out of the semifinal race, however, there is a small mathematical possibility they may be able to qualify if a few results go their way.

How Can Pakistan Qualify For Champions Trophy Semifinal

For Pakistan to qualify, they would first need to beat Bangladesh in the final game. Pakistan would also need India and Bangladesh to beat New Zealand to keep them alive. If New Zealand lose to India and Bangladesh and Pakistan beat Bangladesh, all three teams will be tied on points and the team with the best run rate will qualify along with India.
However, Pakistan's net run rate is very poor so they would need a massive win over Bangladesh and hope that New Zealand lose badly to India and Bangladesh. This is too much to fall in place so even though Pakistan are not officially out of the tournament, don't expect them to qualify unless a miracle sees them through.
Meanwhile, Pakistan have themselves to blame for the misery. The team has been let down by the batters who have failed to get going on good batting surface. Pakistan's strength - the pace trio of Naseem Shah, Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf have also not looked at their best, resulting in Pakistan getting hammered in both games. The performance by Pakistan are certain to invite heavy criticism back home.
