The Indian cricket team continued their perfect start in the 2025 Champions Trophy with a comfortable six-wicket victory over Pakistan at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday (February 23). India have won two matches in a row and have one foot in the semi-final but are still assured a place in the knockout stages ahead of their final league stage match against New Zealand on March 2.
Pakistan have lost two matches in a row and is on the brink of elimination in the first International Cricket Council (ICC) tournament they are hosting after 29 years. Before the defeat against India, the Men in Green lost to New Zealand by 50 runs in Karachi.

How Can India Qualify?

If New Zealand beat Bangladesh on Monday (February 24) in Rawalpindi, India will seal a place in the knockouts. This will mean that both Pakistan and Bangladesh are knocked out of the tournament and their clash against each other on Thursday (February 27) is a dead rubber. Meanwhile, the match between India and New Zealand will be played to decide who finished first and second in the group. India will be assured of place if Bangladesh beat New Zealand and Pakistan beat Bangladesh.

How Can India Still Miss Out?

However, India is still not guaranteed a place if Bangladesh defeat New Zealand and India loses their game against the Black Caps, the situation will come down to Net Run Rate (NRR) if Bangladesh also beats Pakistan. In this scenario, each of India, New Zealand, and Bangladesh will have four points on the board.

Who Will Face India Face?

While India is guaranteed to play their semi-final on March 4 In Dubai, they will only know their opponent on March 2nd after their game against New Zealand. The winner of Group A will face runner-up of Group and vice versa.
