(L) Rohit Sharma, (R) Mohammad Rizwan: How Can India Get Knocked Out Of ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Semifinal Race? All Scenarios Explained! (Source: AP)

India are up against Pakistan in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 match at the Dubai International Stadium. Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat first. Pakistan made one change in the playing XI and included Imam ul Haq in place of Fakhar Zaman who was ruled out of the tournament due to injury. For India, they opted to go in with the same team.

Meanwhile, a lot is at stake for both teams in the match. Pakistan face a must-win situation against India following a defeat to New Zealand in the first match. If Pakistan lose to India, they would be out of the semifinal race unless Bangladesh and India beat New Zealand, and Pakistan win against Bangladesh. For India, a win today will almost confirm their place in the semifinal.
However, a win won't guarantee a place in the semifinal and they could still miss out on a place if they lose the final game to New Zealand, but they will need several results to go against them. If Bangladesh beat New Zealand and Pakistan, and New Zealand beat India; Bangladesh, New Zealand, and India will be tied on points and the teams with a better run rate should go through. If India find themselves at the bottom of the run rate, they will be knocked out.
Things could get trickier if India lose to Pakistan. In that case, they would need a win over New Zealand to qualify. A defeat against New Zealand could knock them out of the tournament if Pakistan beat Bangladesh. Pakistan and New Zealand (if they beat India) with two wins will go through to the knockouts. If Bangladesh beat New Zealand and Pakistan, they could also go through, but that doesn't look like a great possibility given their form.
India, however, would back themselves to win against Pakistan and New Zealand given the superior quality in the squad.
