Babar captained Pakistan in the 2023 ODI World Cup. Pakistan haven't made it to the second round of a 50-over World Cup since 2011. Babar left captaincy after the 2023 ODI World Cup. He made his return as captain for the 2024 T20 World Cup but Pakistan crashed out from the league stage.
Pakistan lose 2 wickets
After a positive start, Pakistan lost two early wickets in Dubai. Babar departed for 23 while Imam ul Haq was run out for 10. The left-handed batsman went for the run after playing towards mid-on.
Axar Patel was quick to collect the ball and throw it straight at the stumps. Mohammad Rizwan joined Saud Shakeel after the fall of the second wicket. A defeat here will all but rule Pakistan out of the 2025 Champions Trophy.
