India has been hit with a major injury concern during the blockbuster 2025 Champions Trophy clash against Pakistan on Sunday (February 23) as skipper Rohit Sharma's fitness has come under major scanner during Pakistan's innings.
The Indian captain was off the field for a short period during Pakistan's innings after the 10th over of the match. Shubman Gill took charge of the team. The Indian captain only returned to action after the 17th over, as his absence raised alarms.
However, Rohit has looked far from comfortable since coming back and struggled while chasing deliveries on the field. As per Dinesh Karthik, who is doing commentary for the host broadcaster, the Indian captain has a hamstring issue. The issue was first noticed when the Indian team celebrated Babar Azam's dismissal in the 9th over of the match.

Can Rohit Sharma Bat For India vs Pakistan?

As Rohit was not off the field for a long time, he will be allowed to bat from the start when India walks out to chase the total. It remains to be seen if Rohit is able to run properly, and the eyes of the cricketing world will be on him ahead of the business stage of the tournament.
Rohit's injury is India's second scare of the day after Mohammed Shami walked off the field after his third over following the physio giving him treatment on the pitch. However, the star Indian pacer returned to the field
India has a one-week break after tonight's match, with their next game against New Zealand on March 2. The Men in Blue will seal qualification for the semi-final if they win against Pakistan and New Zealand beat Bangladesh tomorrow.
If India loses to Pakistan, the match against New Zealand will become a virtual knockout.
Talking about Rohit, he started the tournament with a quick-fire knock of 41 in 36 balls during the Men in Blue's six-wicket victory against Bangladesh in their opening game.
After a torrid season in Test cricket, the Indian captain continued his brilliant form in white-ball cricket with a splendid century against England in Cuttack earlier this month.
