'I Don't Have Breakfast Or Lunch, Lost 9 Kg Before Champions Trophy': Mohammed Shami On Epic Transformation (Source: AP)

Mohammed Shami was on fire in the ICC Champions Trophy match against Bangladesh and picked a brilliant fifer. In the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, Shami is the leader of the Indian pace attack, however, there were a few concerns about his form which he has now put to rest. Shami missed a large chunk of cricketing action for India after picking up the ankle injury during the ODI World Cup 2023 and made a return during the T20I series against England. He looked a bit rusty during the T20I and ODI series but found his mojo back in the first match of the ICC Champions Trophy.
India would rest their hopes on the star pacer during the blockbuster clash against Pakistan on February 23. Ahead of the match, Shami made a big revelation and said that he lost 9 KG before the Champions Trophy. In an interaction with Navjot Singh Sidhu, Shami said that he is not a big foodie and only eats once a day.
"How did you lose five-six kg weight," Sidhu asked Shami on Star Sports. "I have lost nine kg," he said.
"Are you not having the rice in biryani then," Sidhu countered.
"The most difficult thing is challenging oneself. When you are such a situation (recovering from injury), I was at the NCA and my weight was 90kg. The best part is that I don't crave for tasty food, I don't have sweets. I stay away from a lot of things which one should not have. As far as biryani is concerned, sometimes cheat meal toh chalta hai. To mera yeh chalta hai toh kya dikkat hai. Since 2015, I only have one meal per day. I only do dinner, no breakfast or lunch. It is very difficult but once you get used to it then it's easy, " he said.
India will play Pakistan at the Dubai International Stadium on February 23.
