India are all set to take on Pakistan in a blockbuster encounter in the Champions Trophy 2025 on February 23 (Sunday) at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. One of the players who will be key for the Indian team in this encounter is Virat Kohli. However, the superstar batter has not been in the best of form in recent times. In the match against Bangladesh, Kohli could only manage to score 22 runs from 38 balls. Ahead of the match, former India spinner and ex-head coach Anil Kumble has asked Kohli to learn from Rohit Sharma to get back into form.
Virat Kohli has struggled against spin in the recent past. In an interaction with ESPN Cricinfo, Kumble said that Kohli is trying too hard to score runs. He advised he star batter to not worry about it.
"I think he’s trying a bit too hard. You can see that in the way he is going about his innings. He just needs to not worry about it," Kumble said.
Kumble also asked Virat Kohli to take a leaf out of Rohit Sharma's book. The Indian captain bats with freedom because he knows that there are plenty of in-form batters around him. Kumble suggested Kohli to take this approach too.
“Rohit comes in there, has the freedom because there is plenty of batting and all of them are in great form. Similarly for Virat, he just needs to come in and not worry about anything else. All players go through tough moments in their career, but I get a feeling watching him bat, I think he is putting a lot more pressure on himself," Kumble opined.
“When you have that kind of pressure and you have that kind of expectation, you suddenly start putting undue importance to all of that and then try hard to do well. When you do that, you’re not really relaxed. The best innings that I am sure he’s played, he’s not even thinking about all of that," he added.
