Rohit Sharma went past Sachin Tendulkar in an elite list as he completed 11000 runs in ODI cricket. The India captain was just 12 runs short of the milestone before the start of the game and he breached the elusive 11000-run mark with a boundary in the fourth over of India's chase.
Rohit Sharma is now among the four Indian batsmen to score 11000 ODI runs. Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli and Sourav Ganguly are three other Indian batters to score more than 11000 ODI runs.

Sachin, the first batsman to score 11000 ODI runs, achieved the milestone in 2002. Ganguly became the second Indian to do so in 2007. Virat completed 11000 ODI runs during the 2019 World Cup. And Rohit has breached the 11000-run mark in the 2025 Champions Trophy.
Overall, 10 batsmen have scored more than 11,000 ODI runs. Ricky Ponting, Jacques Kallis, Kumar Sangakkara, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Sanath Jayasuriya and Mahela Jayawardene are six non-Indians to score more than 11000 ODI runs.
Rohit Sharma's career
Rohit was an irregular member of Team India from 2007 to 2013. MS Dhoni's decision to give the opening job to Rohit was a boon for him and he capitalised on the opportunity.
There was no looking back for Rohit after he started to open the innings regularly from the 2013 Champions Trophy. In 2017, he became India's white-ball vice-captain. Four years later, he became the full-time captain of the ODI and T20I teams. Early in 2022, Rohit was appointed India's all-format captain. He retired from T20I cricket after leading India to a win in the 2024 World Cup.
