Mohammed Shami created a world record and etched his name in history books during the 2025 Champions Trophy match between India and Bangladesh. Shami has been India's best bowler in the fixture so far and has scalped 3 wickets. Shami provided a dream start to India and scalped a wicket in the very first over of the game.
The right-arm pacer followed up with another wicket in the 7th over. Shami provided India with a much-needed breakthrough and dismissed Jaker Ali to break his 159-run partnership with Towhid Hridoy later in the game.
Shami creates world record
Shami completed 200 wickets in ODIs and created a world record when he breached that milestone. He is now the quickest bowler in the world to scalp 200 wickets in terms of balls bowled. He has achieved the milestone in just 5126 balls he has bowled.

Shami broke Mitchell Starc's record. The Australian pacer completed 200 wickets in 5240 balls. Starc took 102 ODIs to take 200 wickets while Shami has done it in 104 ODIs. But he is ahead of Starc when it comes to balls bowled.

Shami broke Ajit Agarkar's record to become the fastest Indian bowler to scalp 200 wickets in terms of matches played. He achieved the milestone in just 104 ODIs.

He followed up with 14 wickets in only 4 matches in the 2019 World Cup. Shami scalped 24 wickets to finish as the highest-taker in the 2023 World Cup.
