Pakistan is all set to host the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, and the marquee event is reportedly set to kick off with a dazzling display of aerial skill. According to media reports, the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) will perform an air show at the opening ceremony on Wednesday at the National Stadium in Karachi. PAF jets, including the JF-17 Thunder, F-16, and Sher Dil, will perform various stunts.
Pakistan will play their opening match against New Zealand. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi has assured that the tournament will be hosted in a grand manner and with full security.
“We are ready to host the event in a successful manner and also provide the best experience and facilities to the spectators who come to the grounds,” Naqvi said. Naqvi also reiterated that top-level security and hospitality arrangements had been made for all teams and fans as well.
Former President Asif Ali Zardari will be the chief guest at the opening match between Pakistan and New Zealand at the National Stadium in Karachi.
He also made it clear that Pakistan was ready to host the prestigious event, viewing it as an ideal platform to showcase to the world that all teams should feel welcome to play in the country.
The tournament will be held in a hybrid model, with Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) sharing hosting duties. Matches will be played at three venues in Pakistan—Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi—while Dubai will host the games. India will play all its matches in Dubai.
