The Champions Trophy 2025 has begun amid much fervour as Pakistan are currently taking on New Zealand in the first game of the tournament. On the other hand, India are set to begin their tournament from February 20, with a match against Bangladesh in Dubai. India and Pakistan then face off against each other in a blockbuster encounter on Sunday, February 23. Babar Azam and Shubman Gill are two of the biggest stars to take part in the Champions Trophy. Ahead of their mega match, Gill has now handed a big blow to Babar.

Shubman Gill has now occupied the no.1 position in the latest edition of the ICC Men's ODI batting rankings. He has overtaken Babar Azam in latest ICC rankings that was updated on February 19 (Wednesday). Shubman now has 796 points while Babar Azam lags behind with 773.

Shubman Gill was the star of the show in the latest series between India and England. He emerged as the top run scorer of the series with 259 runs. He scored tw fifties and a hundred in the final game. He was adjudged the Player of the Series for his fantastic run with the bat. This stellar show propelled the Indian opener to the top of the ICC ODI rankings.

On the other hand Babar Azam had a poor show in the tri-series involving Pakistan, New Zealand and South Africa. He scored just 62 runs in the three games.

A total of 4 Indians find their name in the ICC rankings for the top 10 batters. Rohit Sharma stands at no.3, Virat Kohli at no.6 and Shreyas Iyer jumps one place to no.9.

Heading into the Champions Trophy 2025, India are the top-ranked ODI team in the world.

Kuldeep Yadav is the only bowler in the top 10 of the ICC Men's ODI bowlers'rankings at no.4. Sri Lanka's Maheesh Theekshana leads the bowling charts in ODIs.
