Coming in at a crucial juncture, Latham navigated Pakistan’s disciplined pace attack to register his first ODI century since his unbeaten 145* against India in November 2022.

His composed knock provided the backbone for New Zealand’s innings as they aimed to set an imposing total.

Latham has been a dependable figure for the Black Caps in ICC tournaments, delivering crucial innings under pressure.

Notably, his 110* against India in the 2017 Champions Trophy group stage helped New Zealand post a competitive total.

Facing a potent bowling attack led by Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah, Latham’s ability to rotate strike and accelerate when needed was on full display.

His knock came after Will Young had already scored the first 100 of Champions Trophy 2025.

His innings, marked by calculated aggression and resilience, ensured New Zealand recovered from early setbacks and built a strong platform in their campaign opener.
