(L-R) Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja: India's Probable XI Vs Bangladesh In Dubai (Source: AP)
India will kick start their ICC Champions Trophy campaign against Bangladesh on February 20 at the Dubai International Stadium. India were rocked by a massive blow ahead of the tournament as Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out due to injury. Without Bumrah, India's pace battery looks bleak. Arshdeep is not that experienced while Shami is making a comeback after a long hiatus due to injury. Many cricket pundits have pointed out India's pace unit as their weak link, but India have a good set of spinners and if the conditions in Dubai are spin-friendly, they would have a big advantage.
India will have to consider multiple factors before picking an XI for the crucial game, including the dew factor if they bowl second. In that case, spinners might not be that effective and India might miss the extra pacer.
The batting order for India looks sorted and the changes will majorly be in the bowling department. Shami, Varun Chakravarthy, and Ravindra Jadeja were not part of the final ODI against England and they'd be the most likely changes in India's XI for the Bangladesh clash.
Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma will open the innings, followed by Virat Kohli. Shreyas Iyer will bat at four and KL Rahul will be the wicketkeeper. Hardik Pandya will be the only fast-bowling all-rounder. Ravindra Jadeja would return to the XI in place of Washington Sundar. Jadeja will likely be accompanied by Axar Patel in the XI. It will be a toss up between Varun Chakravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav and Varun might just edge out Kuldeep. Arsheep Singh is almost certain to play the first game given his left-arm variety and India will have to pick one between Mohammed Shami and Harshit Rana. Shami is more experienced and even though he is yet to hit his peak, he is likely to pip Rana.
India's Likely XI vs Bangladesh: Rohit Sharma (c), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, KL Rahul (wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami, Varun Chakravarthy, Arshdeep Singh
