(L-R) Rohit Sharma with Pakistan born pacer Awais Ahmed: 'Trying To Break My Foot': Rohit Sharma To Pakistan Pacer Ahead Of Champions Trophy, Video Goes Viral: Watch (Source: X)

Fast bowler Awais Ahmed lived a dream come true moment after he bowled to Indian captain Rohit Sharma and star batter Virat Kohli during India's training session at Dubai International Stadium before the ICC Champions Trophy. Hailing from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the pacer left Rohit and Virat impressed with his swinging toe crushers. Rohit was mighty impressed by the pacer and gave him a pat on the back. In a video that went viral, Rohit praised the bowler for his skills, jokingly saying 'you were trying to break my leg'. "Aap hamara pair todne ki koshish kar Rahe the inswing Yorker marke," said Rohit.
The pace bowler revealed that he learned the art of bowling yorkers from Shaheen Afridi who had troubled Rohit Sharma in the past. Awais was part of the Lahore Qalandards in PSL 2021 but did not get a chance to play.
"When I was bowling, Virat was on strike, and later, he had a brief chat with Rohit. Rohit asked Virat which way I was swinging the ball. I heard Virat Bhai say that I was swinging the ball both ways. After that, he batted perfectly and didn’t make any mistakes in his stroke play,” Ahmad said in an interview with Sports Today.
"After the net session, Rohit appreciated me. I tried to deceive Rohit Bhai with yorkers, similar to how Shaheen Shah Afridi bowls to him. Later, Rohit said that I aimed for his foot, and that gave me confidence.”
Ahmed revealed that he was both happy and nervous when he got to know that he would be bowling to Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in training.
"He was definitely practising with the thought that India would face Pakistan later. People dream of meeting Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, and I’m lucky that I got to bowl to them.
"I didn’t feel nervous while bowling today, but when I received the message from Mohit (Raghav) bhai yesterday that I would be bowling to the Indian team, I was both happy and nervous at the same time,” Ahmed added. Mohit Raghav was the one who arranged the net bowlers.
