The Champions Trophy 2025 is all set to begin from February 19 with 8 of the best teams competing to win the mega ICC tournament. Bangladesh will be a side that everyone will have their eyes on. The Asian giants have risen up the ranks, but have never done well in ICC tournaments. In the upcoming Champions Trophy, they will now finally look to do well. However, they will be without some of their biggest legends in the tournament.
Bangladesh Champions Trophy 2025 SWOT Analysis
Strengths: Bangladesh's biggest strength lies in their pace attack. Taskin Ahmed will lead the attack, alongside the ever-dependable Mustafizurwe Rahman, who is one of the better death bowlers in world cricket. They also have some young exciting prospects like Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Nahid Rana
Bangladesh also have an experienced middle order core of Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmadullah, who can provide some skills in the middle order.
Weaknesses: The inconsistency in the Bangladesh batting lineup is the biggest weakness in the Bangladesh side at the moment. Their top four has consistently failed to score big runs and hence failed to put up big scores. They depend a lot on Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmadullah for big scores. Bangladesh also are missing key players in their lineup. Shakib Al Hasan has been banned, while Litton Das has been dropped after his continuous poor performances.
Opportunities: Najmul Hossain Shanto has the chance to inject some fresh tactics and help Bangladesh do well in an ICC tournament for the first time ever. Bangladesh also have a host of youngsters, both in their batting and bowling departments, like Tanzim Hasan Shaib and Towhid Hridoy, who have the opportunity to showcase their talent on the world stage.
Threats: A majority of players in the Bangladesh squad are young and have never played in some high-stakes games like those in the Champions Trophy 2025. The Bangla Tigers also face a tough round of opponents in the group stage- India, hosts Pakistan and New Zealand. Hence, their chance to qualify for the semi-final seems difficult being the weakest team in the tournament.
