Smriti Mandhana Creates History In WPL 2025
With the knock, Mandhana created history and became the first player in the history of the WPL to score multiple 80+ scores. Since the league's inception in 2022, there have been ten individual scores of more than 80, with the RCB skipper the only player to cross the mark twice. The knock against the Capitals was also a career-high for the 28-year-old in the cash-rich league, beating her previous record, which came with a knock of 80 in 50 balls against UP Warriorz (UPW) in the 2024 season at Bengaluru's M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Talking about Mandhana, she had a horror first season in the league after being purchased for a whopping Rs.3.4 crore by RCB. In 2023, she made just 149 runs in eight innings at an average of 18.62 with no half-centuries. Later, she made 300 runs in 2024 with two half-centuries in 10 matches and played a key role in her team's title victory.
In the victory over DC, Mandhana also completed 500 runs and became only sixth player in WPL history to achieve. She is the third Indian after Harmanpreet Kaur and Shafali Verma and only the second player from RCB after Elysse Perry to reach the milestone.
