The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has relaxed their rules on not allowing family members to accompany them during the 2025 Champions Trophy in Dubai, which came into place after a strict diktat was issued last month following the team's 3-1 defeat in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) defeat against Australia.
For those unversed, the BCCI announced that families cannot join players for the entire tour and will be allowed with them for two weeks for series that are longer than 45 days. Even if India reaches the 2025 Champions Trophy final scheduled to take place on March 9, the team is going to stay in Dubai for a maximum of 25 days, having arrived on February 15.
According to a report by Dainik Jagran, the BCCI has now allowed wives and parents to join the team in Dubai for one match. The published report states that a senior member of the team management spoke to the board secretary in which it decided that due to the competition being a short one, players will be allowed permission to let their families visit the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for any one match.
It is upon the players to decide which match they want their partners or parents to join them in. The team management will have to submit a list of which players want their family to come to Dubai and for which match, after which they will get permission.
India will play all their matches at the Dubai International Stadium starting from a clash against Bangladesh on February 20 before the blockbuster battle against arch-rivals Pakistan on February. The Men in Blue will play New Zealand in the last league stage match on March 2. If India finishes among the top two teams in their group, they will play the first semi-final on March 4. The summit clash scheduled to take place on March 9 will be shifted to Dubai from Lahore if India qualify.
