There was no Indian flag during the pre-Champions Trophy event at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi on Sunday (February 16). The video from the event quickly went viral on X and the fans were quick to question the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) over it. India are among the 8 teams participating in the tournament.
While the PCB hasn't released an official statement on the matter, a source has broken his silence. Speaking to IANS, a source said that three venues hosting the ICC event hoisted the flags of the countries which will play there.
"As you know, India is not coming to Pakistan to play its matches during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025; the National Stadium in Karachi, Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium and the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore have hoisted flags of countries that are going to play at the said venues," the source said.
India will not travel to Pakistan and they will instead play their matches in Dubai. India's semi-final and the final of the 2025 Champions Trophy will also be played in Dubai should they reach the second round.
India's Champions Trophy schedule
India will kick off their 2025 Champions Trophy campaign against Bangladesh on February 20. India will lock horns with Pakistan in the much-anticipated fixture on February 23. The Rohit Sharma-led side will take on New Zealand in their last league stage match on March 2.
All the Champions Trophy matches will kick off at 2:30 PM IST. The Indian players have reached Dubai and they have kicked off their preparations for the ICC event.
The two semi-finals will be played on March 4 and 5, respectively. Should India qualify, they will play the first semi-final on March 4 in Dubai. The final of the ICC event will be played on March 9. Pakistan will enter CT 2025 as the defending champions.
