Ace New Zealand batter Kane Williamson was on Saturday, February 15, spotted wearing a dhoti, a video of which has gone viral on social media. The sight of him embracing an Indian attire has since been viewed and lauded by many, delighting cricket lovers across the world.
New Zealand are gearing up for the Champions Trophy opener against hosts Pakistan on February 19 in Karachi and ace batter Williamson's gesture has just added to the excitement surrounding the game.
The video of Williamson walking out of a complex in Karachi wearing a white dhoti and black sandals has spread across social media platforms, drawing admiration from fans and cricket lovers alike. Watch the video here:
Williamson is in good touch coming into the Champions Trophy, having scored an unbeaten 133 against South Africa in Lahore earlier this week. He has scored 7035 runs in 160 ODIs, at an average of 49.54 with 14 hundreds to his name.
Against Pakistan, Williamson has scored 1290 runs in 24 matches at a stunning average of 56 and he can be a big threat to the hosts in the Champions Trophy opener. In Pakistan, he has scored 389 runs in six matches at an average of 77.8.
After Pakistan, New Zealand will take on Bangladesh on February 24 in Rawalpindi. Williamson has scored 500 runs in 11 matches against Bangladesh, at a stunning average of 62.5. Notably, the star batter has never played at the venue, which might be a huge plus for the opponents.
In their last group-stage game, New Zealand will take on India on Sunday, March 2 in Dubai, as India haven't travelled to Pakistan for security reasons. Williamson has scored 1147 runs in 28 matches against India, at an average of 44.11 but with just one hundred to his name. He has scored 374 runs in seven matches in the UAE, at a stunning average of 62.33.
